Well, in my last column I said, "and when this does happen she (Laura Schlessinger) will take the moral high road and admit she was wrong. But I doubt it." Some of you who might be following the controversy surrounding Mrs. Slessinger might actually believe she has apologized. She has not. In her press release dated March 10, she said "Regrettably, some of the words I have used have hurt some people, and I'm sorry for that". Translation: I'm sorry that my publicly denouncement of homosexuals as the moral equivalent of child molesters has placed my TV career at risk.

She went on to say "Words that I have used in a clinical context have been perceived as judgement". Translation: When I said homosexuals were a biological error and sexual deviants I wasn't being judgmental. I meant this as constructive criticism. I was just using big words to impress my listeners.

"They were not meant to characterize homosexual individuals or encourage others to disparage them." Translation: Do not disparage homosexuals as individuals, do it as a collective faceless group, it's easier. Read it yourself: And by the way, Laura honey, you're Still Not a Doctor.

This drivel is nothing more than an attempt by Mrs. Slessinger and her handlers to avoid conflict with network executives concerning an up coming TV show. Yep. It seems that her speaking from the hip style has offended, and the offended party (in this case, the gay and lesbian community, as well as their family and friends) have justifiably reacted, putting Laura's TV debut in jeopardy. I will admit that, as this is the U.S., Laura Schlessinger has the right her opinion, and to speak the same. I have the right to ignore her. Freedom of speech does not guarantee that anyone will listen. However, as this is the U.S., the gay and lesbian communities have the same right to speak out against Mrs. Schlessinger, and we will.

I had refrained from using this quote in the previous column.

"Dr. Laura (Schlessinger is) …one Nasty Bitch" Bill Mahr
Nicely put Bill. I completely agree.
