Car Break-in's and Auto Thefts

We recently had a rash of car break-ins and auto thefts that covered
numerous neighborhoods.  In our response area alone Ballantyne Country
Club, White Oak, Touchstone, Cady Lake, and Atkins Circle were all
victims of several car break-ins and up to 4 auto thefts.  I realize
that in some of these thefts the car window was smashed out, but the
vast majority of them were the result of unlocked car doors, keys left
in the vehicle, and garage doors left open over night.  In some of the
cases entry was made by using a garage remote that was in a vehicle
parked in the driveway of the victim's house.  

Please be mindful of the items that you are leaving in your car, ie;
garage remotes, keys, PDA's, GPS units, I-POD's, purses and so forth.
Please take all items of value out of your cars at night and bring them
into the house along with the garage remote if you have one in your car.
Please don't leave your keys in the vehicle, even if it is parked in the
garage.
